  1. questionCan the RC-29 (open bath chamber for slice studies with atmospherics) be used with cultured cells?
Yes. Use of the RC-29 open bath chamber with atmospherics is not restricted to slice studies. Simply replace the slice anchor with a 24x50mm glass coverglass with cultured cells. Vacuum grease is used to seal the coverglass to the chamber while the platform holds them both together.

  2. questionCan Warner Series 20 Perfusion Chambers be used with #0 thickness Cover Glass
Nothing speaks against the use of #0 thickness glass coverslips with our Series 20 chambers. However, you might want to use a P- or PH- platform with screw-clamps rather than a PM- platform with magnetic clamps. The screw- clamps will allow you to adjust the clamp pressure. Be careful not to br ...

  3. questionHow can a ground wire be attached to a chamber that doesn't have an agar bridge?
A silver-silver chloride ground electrode can be placed directly into the suction well downstream from the sample. Be aware, however, that if you do not continuously perfuse the sample, the silver wire may be able to contaminate the bath.

  4. questionHow can the development of air bubbles in an open bath perfusion chamber be eliminated?
The amount of gas a solution can hold is dependent on the solution temperature. As a result, heating a solution, usually just before delivery to the chamber, can result in outgassing and the appearance of bubbles in the bath.A simple way to address this issue is to preheat your solution, in the ...

  5. questionHow do I clean the Warner chambers?
We recommend using our TSP wash. A reference to this procedure can be found below

  6. questionHow do I increase the stability of my bath height when using an open chamber?
If the chamber bath height is not stable it is usually due to the formation of a meniscus at the aspiration tube. This can lead to an uneven aspiration rate. There are two simple ways to improve bath height stability.1. Use a strong suction on the aspiration end.2. Put a small piece of Kimwipe in ...

  7. questionIs there a chamber that can perform electrophysiology under hypoxic conditions?
There are several ready-to-use options for doing electrophysiology under hypoxic conditions. To generate hypoxic conditions with each of the following chambers simply pump in a gas such as nitrogen or argon (preferably argon as it is heavier than air). The positive pressure of the introduced gas ...

  8. questionWhat type of grease is used for sealing the gaskets and coverglass on RC Series chambers?
The grease we recommend is the Dow 111 silicone grease that is normally used with vacuum pump tubing line connections. It is also used to seal glass dessicators. We sell two products that contain a tube of this grease. Order number 64-0275 is simply a tube of Dow 111 silicone, while order number ...

  9. questionWhich mesh sizes are offered with slice anchors?
All kits come with nylon mesh in two sizes (112 micron and 160 micron) that may be cut and used in conjunction with the slice anchor. Each sheet is approximately 7x7 cm.

  10. questionCan a CC-28 thermistor be repaired?
Yes, both the copper-colored monitor and white feedback thermistors can be replaced. The replacement parts come with instructions for attaching to the CC-28 cable. TS-60P 64-0269 White feedback thermistor TS-70B 64-0270 Copper-colored monitor thermistor

  12. questionWhat is the thickness of the coverglass you carry?
    We carry coverglass in three thicknesses: #1, #1.5, and #2Generally speaking, glass thickness is expressed as a range to allow for manufacturing variance and our glass adheres to industry standards.#1 = 0.13 - 0.17 mm (130-170 µm)#1.5 = 0.16 - 0.19 mm (160-190 µm) #2 = 0.17 - 0.25 mm ...
