How do you insert the cell culture dish adapter rings into the DH-35i, DH-40i, QE-1 and QE-2 microincubators?
The cell culture dish adapter rings are tapered for a precise fit and should be mounted with the notch facing down. If the ring is not oriented correctly it will be very difficult to insert and remove.A special tool is provided to assist in removing the adapter ring from the microincubator platf ...
Is it possible to use temperature feedback from the bath to regulate an inline solution heater?
Unfortunately, no. Feedback in inline solution heaters is derived from thermistors located within the heater body. This prevents oscillations in temperature which can arise when the temperature sensor is distal to the heat source..
Is there a chamber that can perform electrophysiology under hypoxic conditions?
There are several ready-to-use options for doing electrophysiology under hypoxic conditions. To generate hypoxic conditions with each of the following chambers simply pump in a gas such as nitrogen or argon (preferably argon as it is heavier than air). The positive pressure of the introduced gas ...
What are the differences between the DH-35i and DH-40i systems?
The DH-35i and DH-40i have evolved into very similar products but they started from different viewpoints. For both products, the end goal was microscopic imaging of cell cultured surfaces with both temperature and environment control, and with continuous perfusion. a. The DH-35i is specialized f ...
What can be done about static discharge during perfusion with the PDMI-2?
This problem is usually associated with air or solution flow within the perfusion lines. The simplest way to address the problem is to use stainless steel needles in the bubble traps and ground them.
What purpose do the dish clamps serve when using cell culture dishes in a microincubator?
Dish clamps are provided to hold cell culture dishes in place in the bottom of the microincubator. Clamping insures good thermal contact between the culture dish and the heated surface which helps to maintain tight temperature control.
What tubing is needed to provide perfusion and gas control to the DH-35i and DH-40i microincubators?
Tygon tubing (1/16 inch ID) attaches to the stainless steel inlet and outlet ports and PE-160 tubing (1/16 inch OD) fits inside the tygon tubing. Both microincubators require the same tubing which is provided when either microincubator is purchased.
What type of chamber can be used with the PDMI-2?
Compatible chambers for the PDMI-2 are: Model Number Description Catalog number LU-PD Corning 35 mm Petri dishs 65-0054 MSC-TD Teflon/glass coverslip dish 65-0051 MSC-PTD Teflon/glass coverslip dish 65-0050 LU-ASP Leiden Aspirator 65-0047 LU-CSD-Special Leiden mul ...
What type of microscopes can be used with the PDMI and PSMI?
The PDMI and PSMI are compatible with inverted microscopes from Nikon, Olympus, Zeiss, Lecia, and Unico having a flat stage, or Zeiss and Lecia microscopes having a detachable, M typemechanical stage.
When is in-line heating preferred over chamber heating?
Generally speaking, heating a platform alone is a good strategy only for very slow or non-flow conditions. The solution loses most of its heat enroute to the chamber. Under the more common flow conditions of 2-10 ml/min, an inline heater is a better way to deliver heated solution to a chamber.Co ...
Which color adapter rings go with which cell culture dish when using the DH-35i, DH-40i, QE-1 and QE-2 micrincubators?
Color codes for the different adapter rings are shown below. Color ID OD Gold 1.534 1.599 Green 1.415 Blue 1.331 Red 1.474 Black 1.396 Silver 1.394
Are Willco Wells 35mm glass bottom dishes compatible with the PDMI-2 microincubator?
The PDMI-2 is designed to fit the Corning dishes which have an OD of 36.5 mm. The OD of Willco dishes is 34.9 mm. So, while Willco dishes can insert, they will be slightly loose within the PDMI body.
Can a CC-28 thermistor be repaired?
Yes, both the copper-colored monitor and white feedback thermistors can be replaced. The replacement parts come with instructions for attaching to the CC-28 cable. TS-60P 64-0269 White feedback thermistor TS-70B 64-0270 Copper-colored monitor thermistor
